A Special Service Project

Have you ever dreamed of making a meaningful impact on the lives of others while embarking on a life-changing journey of your own? Ends Adventures and Enrich Missions invites you to step out of your comfort zone and into the world of service, compassion, and transformation. This 7-day in-country service project will give you an opportunity to prepare and serve nutritious meals for hungry children, teach Bible lessons, encourage youth to follow Jesus, and so much more.

Age Restriction: 10+ (all minors must be accompanied by a parent)

Service In Nicaragua

Nicaragua is the second poorest nation in the western hemisphere and families are forced to make challenging decisions when it comes to their children’s education. Public schooling is free to walk in the door, but parents need to provide uniforms, books, school supplies and more, all while living on an average of $2 a day. Because of this, 70% of students who begin first grade drop out before they reach sixth grade.

Enrich Missions extends Christ’s love to children living in extreme poverty so that they can fully engage their educational opportunities. Since founding in 2015, we’ve been doing that in a number of different ways — Nutrition, Enrichment, Tutoring & Medical/Dental Care — all while speaking the salvation message of hope, love and life in Jesus Christ.

We learned early that it is hard to learn when you’re hungry, so the foundation of our ministry is our Nutrition Program. Students are served a hot, nutritious lunch three times a week, along with a multivitamin. Enrich Missions works to ensure that our students have a diverse menu of proteins, fruit, veggies and other things they don’t have access to at home.

Our Enrichment Classes provide our students with extracurricular classes like Ballet, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Library Time, Computers and Art. Tutoring is offered to anyone who needs it by partnering with local college students who volunteer their time. Our students receive regular medications for their overall wellness like anti-parasite medications and fluoride treatments to stop cavities.

Our goal has always been to make our Enrichment Center replicable and branch out to reach more students in more areas. People-resources are important as we move forward into more spaces so that we don’t burn out our staff. Each location will also need startup resources to get the ball rolling. Hiring and training staff, plus outfitting each new project area is our current need.

Orientation will be a time of prayer, team building, and preparation for our time in Nicaragua. It is an important time to come together in unity and understand the culture before we travel.

We will be sleeping at the New International Center For Global Outreach Campus and all meals will be provided.

On October 5th, we will fly out of Florida as a team into Managua, Nicaragua. There will be a 3 hour drive to Matagalpa, Nicaragua to our hotel where we will be staying for the remainder of the project.

Enrich Missions provides their students with nutrition, enrichment, tutoring medical/dental care and extra curricular classes like Ballet, Brazilian JiuJitsu, Library Time, Music and Art.

During this service project you will get to interact with youth in Enrich Missions care and build relationships with staff and students through the many extra curricular classes they offer, their nutrition program and other areas of service! More of these details will come as we get closer to the service project dates.

These nights you will be sleeping in a nice hotel room in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. Room arrangements will likely be with one other person of the same gender (except for married couples). Includes WiFi, and other standard commodities.

October 12:

We will be back at the New International, Center For Global Outreach Campus, located in Fort Myers, FL for one more night. The beautiful rooming arrangements will be bunk beds with different rooms for guys/girls. Includes WiFi, and other standard commodities.

Meals

Nicaragua is a Hispanic nation and you can expect normal Hispanic foods while there.
Most meals will be eaten at the hotel.

How Difficult Might This Project Be?

EXAMPLE:

Visiting a ministry in another country is an amazing way to see and experience what God is doing in His global Church. It can help us grow in our faith, create an awareness of the struggles of our brothers and sisters in Christ, and even open our eyes to new ministry opportunities. It can also be challenging as we enter into a foreign culture, climate, and environment.

It can be challenging to adapt to a new culture, especially when we are not prepared for what we will experience. To help adequately prepare us for an Ends Cycling Service Project, we have identified some factors to help gauge how difficult the service project may be. While it is a helpful tool, it is important to note that this is meant only to help in your initial prayer and decision-making process. When traveling overseas, there are so many things that we cannot account for, so this list should not be seen as a guarantee of difficulty level. For more detailed information, reach out to the Service Project Coordinator.

Lodging

Lodging on this project will be mostly hotels with comfortable standard accommodations.

Food & Water

Please, DO NOT drink any water other than the purified water in the large plastic container in your room or water that is provided by Enrich Missions.
Please use purified bottled water for brushing your teeth.
DO NOT eat anything from the vendors on the street.
WASH YOUR HANDS. Bringing individual personal hand sanitizer is recommended.

Bathroom Situation

You will find standard “Western” toilets in you hotel in Nicaragua.
DO NOT PUT TOLIET PAPER IN THE TOILETS. Small trashcans are normally provided beside each toilet for disposal.
At the ministry site we will only have access to latrines, no flushing toilets.

Type of Ministry

The type of ministry will likely not be labor intensive.

Length of travel, Time Zones & Altitude

Nicaragua is located in the Central Time Zone which. There will not be a big time change to adjust to.
Flights from FL to Nicaragua will likely be an easier, under 4 hours travel time.
Altitude – No special precautions needed.
